MLTC Social Events

Welcome to Rusty Racquets at Minehead Tennis Club (opposite the Kildare Lodge in Townsend Road), every Saturday from 1pm. A warm and friendly welcome awaits complete newcomers and returners to the game. No need to join the Club, racquets and balls provided along with limitless tea, coffee and cake. Basic free coaching if needed - all for £2.50 a person - a bargain! Saturday afternoons is more like a party than a tennis session! We don't have a playing test at Minehead but you do have to pass a smiling test. Come along and see what all the fun is about or give Pete Bolla a ring on 07792 176118.

Minehead Man wins 2017 Somerset LTA Volunteer of the Year Award

Pete Bolla

Somerset Lawn Tennis Association held it’s AGM last week and made presentations to various award winners and their ladies team who did exceptionally well in winning the County Championships in 2017. Receiving the Volunteer of the Year Award was Peter Bolla from Minehead Tennis Club for his outstanding contribution in creating the Rusty Rackets sessions on a Saturday afternoon at Minehead and increasing club membership by 50% over the last 5 years. Pete has given up almost every Saturday afternoon for 5 years to encourage and informally coach prospective tennis players and new members at the club. Even after major heart surgery he barely missed a week and has created a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere where anyone can come and try tennis with no commitment and very little financial outlay.
Pete will now represent Somerset at the regional West of England awards ceremony next March at Bath University and is pictured receiving his award from Somerset LTA President Nigel Barker. Anyone is welcome to come and try tennis at Minehead Tennis Club on Saturday afternoons from 1.00pm , no appointment necessary.
